Asylum Seekers

Specialist support for asylum seeking young people to integrate into the community and navigate the legal process.

Asylum Seekers

We specialise in helping and supporting Asylum Seekers to integrate into the community. We are able to provide them with access to immigration solicitors who will help and support them through their asylum-seeking application process. We will help them understand British law and the way it works, and reassure and support them throughout.

We help support them in accessing education — particularly ESOL — as well as training and employment opportunities.

We encourage them to integrate and maintain links with their own community groups. We provide access to the Red Cross for those who wish to trace family members, and fully prepare asylum seekers for the responsibilities of independent living, future citizenship, and integration into the UK.

Where appropriate, where a young person approaches the age of 21 and has not received any decision from the Home Office on their Asylum Application, Young Roots Care Services will complete all the necessary forms for their referral to NASS. To help protect and support young people who have turned 21 years of age, Young Roots will operate within the guidelines of the placing local authority’s Vulnerable Young Adult Protection Policy (or equivalent).
