Young Roots Care Services was built on compassion, experience and a deep belief in every young person’s potential.
Our Background Story
We began our journey 20 years ago as foster carers. During this time, we cared for many children and young people aged 13–18, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people from countries such as Somalia, Kenya, Malawi, Afghanistan, Eritrea, Morocco, Albania and others, as well as looked-after young people from the UK.
Our fostering experience showed us that with the right support, every young person can lead a fulfilling life. We created a warm, family home where they felt safe, loved and encouraged to grow in confidence.
We prepared them with essential life skills for independence. However, when it came to moving on, we saw that the quality of provision for care leavers varied greatly and support was often not consistent. This inspired us to do more and create something truly unique.
Our Approach
We are family-focused and trauma-informed. We value each young person as an individual and work alongside them to build trust, resilience, skills and a sense of belonging.
Our Journey
2016 We established Young Roots Care Services Ltd and launched Bridge End House — supported accommodation for young people aged 16+. We later added a semi-independent provision for 18+, making transitions smoother for the young people in our care.
Today We are proud to open Hale End House, a children’s home for young people aged 10–17 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Learning Disabilities (LD) and mild mental health needs, offering nurturing, therapeutic and family-style care.
Our Vision
The vision for Young Roots is to create a nurturing, stable, and therapeutic environment where children can feel safe, valued, and supported as they grow and develop. We place an increased focus on establishing relationships with the children in our care from the moment they arrive, so they can truly “put down roots” — feeling loved, safe and secure, knowing they will be taught key skills during their stay with us and transition on with the confidence required to not simply go through life, but grow through life.
Our Commitment
We are committed to meeting and exceeding The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and The Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023, delivering the highest standards of care across all our services.
